Date 1964 | Lella & Massimo Vignelli
The Max Cups and Saucers are back and (now that espresso is here to stay) more relevant than ever. Heller's anticipated rerelease honors Lella and Massimo Vignelli's original design specification in which each handle connects to the cup wall creating a semicircular space; a thoughtful touch that elevates this espresso set above all others. The light reflecting curves, clean lines, and minimalist building block design are a visual treat that elevate your coffee drinking experience at home or in the office.
As with the entire Max collection the cups and saucers are stackable, and crafted to last a lifetime for both durability and timeless design. Lella and Massimo Vignelli's design is just as relevant today as it was when the collection first launched in Milan in 1964. The Max Cups and Saucers are the epitome of timeless design meets practicality that is recognized by design enthusiasts and institutions alike. Max Cups and Saucers are part of the permanent collections at the New York MoMA and Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art.
Dishwasher safe, top rack only. Do not microwave.

Why we love it!
We love the MCS for its functional beauty. Perfect for an espresso and gorgeous stacked on a shelf. The way the cup fits on the saucer is design magic. Modern design at its best.

In 1970, my mother was given a set of the original, made in Italy, Heller dinnerware and cup/saucer set (in yellow!). The were the “fancy dishes” in the post-modern decor of the living room and dining room of that house. When not being used, the set was on a display shelf in dining room. Didn’t actually get used very often. I took them when she passed 22 years ago, and they have been used in my house almost daily for the last 22 years. My now adult kids called them “Nanna’s Dishes”.
I was thrilled to see that this dish/cup/saucer set is now again in production. I bought this new Heller set as a wedding gift for one of my sons. Would have preferred to get him a set in yellow, just like Nanna’s Dishes, but the white is very nice and has the same clean look.
