A Czech by birth, Walter Heller's master craftsmanship can be seen adorning private homes, museums, hotels and office complexes throughout New England. Heller's roots are firmly anchored in his extensive European training which began as an apprentice saddler and tapiezer in Bavaria, Germany, at the age of 14. However, sewing leather is hard on fingers, so he shifted to cutting cloth, then trained as a furniture maker. By the time he was 18 years old, he was an accomplished leather worker, machinist and cabinet maker, so he decided to try his luck in America, arriving in New York City. During the years following his arrival in the US, Heller has applied the perfectionist approach to uniting style with comfort in the form of upholstered furniture. For over 40 years, Heller has been working with architects, project managers, interior designers and residential clients to produce upholstered custom furniture for a wide range of environments. From traditional styling to ultra modern design, Heller can create a one-of-a-kind piece that will set your space apart from the rest. |
